Child Care Practitioners

The position

• Responsible for the daily care of children between ages 0-4 years
• Take care of the well-being of the children
• Plan and create engaging themes and activities and develop new ideas to support our preschool education program
• Create an environment in which the children feel safe and free and can develop
• Accompany children both individually and in (small) groups
• Organize daily, weekly and monthly activities
• Keep spaces, inventory and materials clean, so children can be taken care of in a safe and secure environment
• Keep our parents informed about their child’s development

Your profile

You need to have a degree in daycare or an equivalent (SPH/ SPW/ Pedagogics), as we provide an educational program for international children. Check https://duo.nl/particulier/international-student/your-qualifications/working-in-childcare.jsp for more information.

If you have a diploma from another European country, then you will need to apply for recognition of your qualification through DUO (Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs). Further information on this process is available through this link

If you have a diploma from outside the EU, you first need to do an international credential evaluation. This is a written statement, which indicates the value of a foreign diploma or study programme in the Netherlands. It contains a comparison of a foreign diploma or study programme with the Dutch educational system. You can apply for a credential evaluation through www.idw.nl

In addition you have the following experience and skills:

• Relevant childcare qualifications;
• Eligible to work in the Netherlands;
• Fluent in both Dutch and English, spoken and written;
• Previous experience in professional childcare;
• Capable of providing a safe, caring and stimulating environment;
• Motivated, enthusiastic and passionate about childcare;
• Excellent communication skills with children, staff and parents;
• Additional talents, such as in music, dance, cooking and performing outdoor activities with young children, is a definite asset.

Big Ben Kids offers international childcare to international parents and internationally minded Dutch families through day care and after school care programmes at 5 locations in Scheveningen, Kijkduin, Wassenaar and Amstelveen.
